Her husband Jack Brooksbank has a new job that will see the couple and their one-year-old son August splitting their time between Portugal and the U.K. Ahead of Queen Elizabeth II’s platinum jubilee celebrations this week, Eugenie and Jack have vacated Frogmore Cottage to make room for Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry, from whom they were subletting the house. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will stay in the five-bedroom house that was their original marital home with Archie, 3, and Lilibet, who turns one on June 4, while they visit the country to mark the queen’s 70-year reign. Cousins Harry and Eugenie are close—they attended the Super Bowl together earlier this year and the Brooksbanks were guests at the Sussexes’ Montecito home. Jack is a former tequila ambassador, and his new job is with property tycoon and George Clooney’s business partner Mike Meldman. Eugenie will retain her job at a London art gallery on a part-time basis. Eugenie and Jack are now on the lookout for a new home in the UK, with rumors suggesting they’re eyeing up Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor estate (which curiously enough Duchess Kate and Prince William are also said to be interested in.) Frogmore Cottage was a wedding gift from the queen to her grandson and his wife when they married in May 2018, and is on the grounds of Frogmore House—a Grade-I listed country estate which is where Harry and Meghan had their evening wedding reception. In the year following their 2018 wedding, the Sussexes spent $3 million of taxpayers’ money on refurbishments to the cottage, which was converted from five separate apartments into a single-family residence. When Harry and Meghan stepped down as senior royals, the funds they spent on Frogmore Cottage inevitably became the source of controversy, but they paid back the $3 million in full.
