The goal of the series is to give a boost to America’s greatest inventors and small businesses by inviting them to sell their products live on-air to home viewers, and, at the end of each episode, the person with the highest dollar sales will win the chance to strike a life-changing deal with one of the retail giants behind the series. “Being an entrepreneur, because small businesses and entrepreneurs were hit hard in the last year and a half, I said this is my time to give back,” Mangano told Parade.com in an exclusive interview. “So, the show’s mission is to highlight small businesses and entrepreneurs’ great products and give them a first-time ever, never been done before in primetime live TV, a live shoppable experience.” To make it especially appealing, USA Network and NBC Universal are giving a lot of support to the entrepreneurs, so they can pitch their products in very big and bold and innovative ways live from Newark Symphony Hall in New Jersey. “After they pitch their products, the viewer will be able to buy right there and the product will be shipped out to them immediately,” Mangano continued. “So, it is really a very incredible experience.” Here’s more of everything we know about America’s Big Deal:

America’s Big Deal will introduce the at-home audience to aspiring entrepreneurs who, after a challenging year for small businesses, are eager to sell their ingenious, ready-to-ship products live in primetime. The products will cross a wide range of categories, including home solutions, electronics, games, pets and many more. “I liken it to a cross between The Voice and Shark Tank,” Mangano said. “Really nothing has ever been done like this before. These are small businesses, over 90 percent of the businesses in the United States are small businesses, whose American dream is to showcase products, not a voice, not a dance, but a product that is ready to ship, so it’s quite exciting.”
How is the winner of America’s Big Deal determined?
The winner is determined by sales. So, the audience is actually voting with their purchases each week via ShoppableTV and NBCUniversal Checkout during the live show. “It’s very scientific, actually, and I’ve been doing it for 30 years,” Mangano said. “We are not looking at units sold. We are looking at the dollars they generate. So, somebody selling something for $100 will probably sell less items than somebody selling something for $20. But I can tell you having had the experience for 30 years if people love a product, they’ll buy it. So, it’s the dollars at the end that make the playing field level for everybody.”

The prize awarded each night of the show is a deal with either QVC and HSN, Lowe’s or Macy’s. “They will get a purchase order of a minimum of $100,000 to bring the product into their stores nationwide,” Mangano said. “So, beside the sales of the show and the exposure to have these companies who really believe in small businesses and entrepreneurs, it’s really my story of my American dream. From a mop and an idea to a multi-billion-dollar business.”
