Games Like Wordle
Absurdle
Time to rip off the bandaid: Absurdleis not easy at all. It’s different from Wordle in that it’s hard and you have unlimited guesses—and that’s not all. It’s been called an “adversarial” version of Wordle, with the answer not being fixed, but changing as you go and narrowing it down slightly with each guess. If it sounds confusing, it’s because it is! You can get full instructions on how to play here.
Dordle
Up for a challenge? Dordleis basically two Wordle boards side by side. You have six guesses to guess both words using one Wordle-like keyboard. This game is not easy! Spoiler alert for Daily Dordle #008 below to give you an idea of how the game is played. In terms of strategy, many Dordle players find success by figuring out one side of the Dordle, then figuring out the other side—but that only works if you have enough tries left! Dordle has a daily version as well as a free unlimited version.
HelloWordl
HelloWordlis a browser version of Wordle that you can play whenever you want, as many times as you want to play. HelloWordl also allows you to adjust the number of letters in the puzzle, making each game as unique as you want it to be.
Primel
Better with numbers than with letters? In that case, you’re in luck. Primelmakes you guess a five-digit prime number instead of a five-letter word. Like Wordle, you’ll get alerted if a digit is in the right place, the wrong place, or not used based on the colors of the tiles.
Sweardle
Calling all pottymouths! Sweardleis a four-letter version of Wordle that lets you use exclusively curses, expletives, and generally explicit and colorful language. Work that vulgar vocabulary! (The screenshot below was a particularly tame one!)
Wheeldle
Wheeldleoperates identically to Wordle in terms of rules, gameplay, and even letter count, though it has visuals akin to an old-school NES game.
Word Master
Word Masteris almost identical to Wordle, but you have unlimited puzzles to play (and instead of squares, you have circles).
WordGuessr
WordGuessris similar to Wordle, but you can play more than once and choose the number of letters in each puzzle. There’s also a challenge feature so you can send the same word challenge to a friend.
Wordle Unlimited
Wordle Unlimited has as many Wordle puzzles as your heart desires, all day, every day—and you can start a “Wardle” (see what they did there?) and send puzzles to friends.
Queerdle
Queerdleis a daily gay-celebrating version of Wordle, in which all of the answers are part of the culture. It brands itself as the “yassification” of Wordle. If you’re having trouble, we suggest you brush up on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Queerdle also boasts a pretty hilarious win screen. It’s losing screen is funny enough to make you forget that you’re frustrated at actually getting the word wrong.
Phordle
Phish fans can take a break from listening to 40-minute long jams with Phordle, a Wordle-like game that features exclusively Phish-related terms—not all of which are actual words, which makes it even more challenging.
Taylordle
Swifties, rejoice! Taylordleis an unofficial Taylor Swift-themed Wordle game in which each word is part of Swift’s lyrical and pop culture universe. Like regular Wordle, there’s one puzzle per day.
Letterle
In Letterle, you literally just guess what single letter is chosen per day. That’s it.
Quordle
Love a challenge? Try out Quordle. The game is literally Wordle four times over: You have to guess four different five-letter words at once.
Worldle
Though Worldle just looks like “Wordle” with a typo, it’s significantly different: Each day, guess a country based on its shape on a map. For each incorrect guess, Worldle will literally tell you you’re way off—and by how much, and in which direction you should look.
Nerdle
With Nerdle, keep your order of operations in mind: Every day, you have to guess a random math problem, inserting numbers, symbols and potential solutions. Thankfully for us, there’s no algebra involved, or we’d be in big trouble. There’s also a mini Nerdle! Next, get the best Wordle starting words and more tips and tricks to beat your best score!
